What do you do when given earth shattering news? Andrea, diagnosed at the age of 33 with ALS, decided she didn't want to "just wait around to die". Instead she sparked a movement to end ALS. Journey with her as she races after her dream of being the first person with ALS to complete a marathon in all 50 states. This film will follow her chasing a seemingly impossible goal - 50 marathons and a world without ALS.

What Is ALS?

The Challenge

You probably saw the Ice Bucket Challenge in 2015. You might even have participated. But you might not know exactly what ALS is and what it does. ALS is a progressive neurological disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.

ALS's Impact

When motor neurons that connect nerves and muscles die, people lose the ability to initiate and control muscle movement. Most people with ALS become totally paralyzed as they lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, swallow, and breathe.

Life Expectancy

Every 90 minutes, someone with ALS dies and another person is diagnosed. The average life expectancy of a person with ALS is 2-5 years. 20% live 5 years or more; 10% percent live more than 10 years.

The Movement

The only approved drug for ALS (riluzole), only extends life expectancy by 2-3 months. While the Ice Bucket Challenge was great, it is going to take all of us to make a world without ALS. Team Drea is on the move for this purpose. Join us today.
